Carrie Writes Pilates Carrie Tynan I am always looking for
new activities to improve my self. After reading about a new form of exercise called
Pilates in a magazine I decided to research and try the exercise for my self. Pilates is a
full body-conditioning program that builds strength and flexibility producing long lean
muscles in the body. All exercises begin at the powerhouse meaning the abdominal core
muscles working to longdate muscles and build a better posture. The connection of breath
and body movement is the focus of the exercises learning to contract the stomach muscles
to support the body. There are many positive
benefits of Pilates such as abdominal strength, improved flexibility and circulation.
Pilates also improves posture and alignment. As with all exercise programs you get energy
boost and stress reduction. I started Pilates because it was a good low impact exercise
program easy to learn. Since I have started doing pilates every day I have noticed a
decrease in the chronic pain I have in my back and joints. I also feel that I walk taller
and more flexible in my movements. My favorite tapes are the living arts Pilates tapes by
Ana Caban always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. Begin with a
beginner tape or the book Pilates body by Brook Silar. Take each exercise at a time and
